Marina S. Kurian, MD, FACS

Marina Kurian, MD has dedicated a significant part of her professional life to the treatment of obesity and making surgery less painful with minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Kurian is a New York City native and graduated from prestigious Stuyvesant High School. She was accepted into a combined six year college/medical school program at Albany Medical College. Psychologist:

Warren Huberman, Ph.D.

Dr. Huberman specializes in cognitive-behavior therapy with a focus on behavioral medicine for patients over the age of 15. His subspecialties include the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders and habit control disorders, including smoking cessation and obesity. Dr. Huberman is the former Director of Outpatient Psychological Services at the Joan and Joel Smilow Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention Center at NYU Medical Center. He earned his doctorate in clinical/school psychology from Hofstra University in 1993.

Donna Rivera, Ph.D.

Dr. Rivera graduated with a Ph.D. from the Clinical Psychology Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, in 1998.  Her professional career began in 1970 at the Maimonides Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry, where she worked as a clinician while pursuing her goal of becoming a clinical psychologist.  Dr. Rivera's training was focused in understanding human behavior within a psychodynamic framework.  In recent years she has also integrated concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy into her work, especially with regard to weight loss issues.  In 2000 Dr. Rivera began administering psychological assessments to the patients of several prominent weight loss surgeons in the New York City area.  In 2001 Dr. Rivera left Maimonides to work full-time in her private practice, where she continues to devote much of her time to the evaluation of patients preparing for weight loss surgery.
